Carbonitriding

Carbonitriding is a surface hardening treatment similar to carburising; however carbon and nitrogen are diffused into the surface of low alloy/low carbon steel.  This results in a component with a hard, wear resistant surface and a softer, tough core. Carbonitriding is more suitable for plain carbon and mild steels
